EASY ELDERFLOWER CORDIAL RECIPE

Homemade Elderflower cordial



Let me tell you why Elderflower is so amazing and easy to make!



Elderflower health benefits:


Elderflower is rich content in vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and C.


  • Antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties

  • Treats colds and flu symptoms

  • Sinus infections and other respiratory disturbances

  • Elderflower has antibacterial and antiviral properties

  • May also help alleviate some allergies

  • Boost the immune system

  • Might help reduce pain and swelling in joints due to some forms of arthritis and is used to stop bleeding

  • As an oral rinse, elderflower can be used for its antiseptic properties as a mouthwash and gargle

  • Elderflower also reduces blood sugar levels

  • Helps kill hospital pathogens including MRSA



The Elder plant leaves, seeds, and twigs are potentially toxic, but the flowers and berries can be used in herbal medicine for treating a variety of ailments.





Raw elderflower flowers and berries are toxic and must be cooked before consuming!



To make Elderflower you need to forage for Elderflower tree, away from any polution.

Don't cut all the flowers from the tree. Leave some on the tree to collect Elderberries later in the summer.


You can make delicious and super healthy sirup from Elderberries. Fantastic against flu, cold and sinus infections!




Elderflower Cordial Recipe


Ingredients:


  • 50 clusters of Elderflowers

  • 1.5 litres of water

  • 1 kg of sugar of your choice

  • Juice form 3 lemons

  • muslin

  • Jars



Method:


1. Separate flower heads from the stems.

2. Bring 1.5 litres of water to the boil and put over your flowers and leave it overnight.

3. Next day strain the flowers from the liquid using muslin.

4. Add 1 kg of sugar, juice of 3 lemons to the liquid and simmer until the sugar dissolves.



Cordial is almost done!



5. Bring it to the boil and remove the gathering froth.







6. Pour the cordial in to disinfected jars, close and put them upside down to close. Turning jars upside down you creating the vacuum that closes the jars. You can then enjoy Elderflower Cordial for the rest of the year!



Finally golden liquid is stored
